SOCPA Provides Fellowship Exam Scholarships for 262 Graduates of Saudi Universities
Stemming from the close cooperation that links the Saudi Organization for Chartered and Professional Accountants (SOCPA) with Saudi universities, and from its keenness to support national cadres of accounting graduates, SOCPA is preparing to implement the fellowship exam next August for recipients of scholarships for accounting graduates who, excel academically, to take the fellowship exam. SOCPA launched this initiative as part of the initiatives of the International Conference on Accountancy Education held in January 2023. Ten scholarships were allocated to each university. Moreover, the number of accepted students for the first batch reached 262 male and female students who were nominated from 39 universities. The candidates may take the exam in one of the 11 cities in multiple regions of the Kingdom; to facilitate sitting for the exam.
The CEO of SOCPA, Dr. Ahmed Al-Maghamis, stated that the fellowship of SOCPA has the interest and appreciation of the business sector institutions in the Kingdom, which is showing an increasing demand for professionally qualified capabilities in the field of financial accounting and auditing. Dr. Al-Maghamis stated that this is the first batch of accepted candidates for the scholarship program, as all the seats allocated to each university will be used for the remaining batches, stressing SOCPA's keenness to contribute to the efforts of developing national capabilities specialized in accounting, which is one of the important areas in the economic sectors in the Kingdom. Thus, it is consistent with the social responsibility policy adopted by SOCPA that, in turn, contributes to achieving one of SOCPA's objectives. Dr. Al-Maghamis indicated that the target groups for this scholarship program are young Saudis who have bachelor's degrees in accounting with high GPAs from Saudi universities.
