The Saudi Organization for Chartered and Professional Accountants (SOCPA) will organize the International Conference on Accounting Education at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center from January 3-5, 2023, under the slogan "Early Preparation for the Labor Market," and under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and chairman of the board of Directors of SOCPA, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi.
The CEO of SOCPA, Dr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Meghames, stated that the conference is the first of its kind in the field of accounting education, with the participation of 67 local and international speakers intending to exchange experiences and expertise in the field of accounting education.
Dr. Al-Meghames emphasized that the conference comes in the context of the support provided by the government to support the accounting and auditing sector in the kingdom. The generous support from the country's leadership seeks to empower the youth and build their capabilities to compete globally through early preparation for the labor market, enhance their work culture, develop their skills, and support the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
He also pointed out that the conference will allow government agencies, local and international professional bodies, Saudi and international universities, and major accounting firms to meet under one roof. The conference, he added, is an opportunity for everyone to exchange experiences in many aspects important to the accounting field, such as empowering professional accounting cadres, transferring international best practices in accounting education, developing accounting educational curricula to keep up with modern trends in the accounting profession, enhancing awareness of professional certificates among accounting graduates, and building partnerships with local and international stakeholders.
For its part, SOCPA announced that the conference targets 44 universities and colleges, more than 700 academics, and 35 thousand students and will also witness the launch of accounting initiatives and more than 40 activities, including eight discussion sessions and 24 specialized workshops in the field of accounting and auditing.
SOCPA also pointed out that the conference activities aim to develop the public perception of accounting education outputs in light of the labor market requirements, ultimately enhancing the accounting profession.
SOCPA also added that the conference will witness the launch of accounting initiatives, including the accounting hackathon, which aims to adopt innovation in accounting technical solutions and an interactive theater and enriching competitions.
