SOCPA Participates in the G20 Emerging Economies Group Meeting
SOCPA, represented by the Accounting Standards Committee, participated in the semi-annual meeting of the Emerging Economies Group of G20 countries which is under the umbrella of the IFRS. The meeting was held remotely via video conference call during the period 2-3 December 2021. Representing SOCPA at this meeting was Mr. Ihsan Makhdoom, member of the Accounting Standards Committee, and Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Razeen, executive director of professional standards, .
The agenda items of the meeting included Disclosure Initiative—Subsidiaries without Public Accountability, Equity Method, Sustainability-related Reporting, post-implementation Review of IFRS 9—Classification and Measurement, and an update on IASB activities.
Representatives of the SOCPA submitted the invitation to host one of the upcoming meetings of the group, and the invitation was accepted in principle to host the second annual meeting for 2022.
It should be noted that SOCPA actively participates in a number of IASB's activities to communicate its perspective on its projects and Initiatives, whether through periodic meetings, or by commenting on projects and Initiatives published by IASB.
