As part of the initiative to align education outcomes with labor market requirements, SOCPA organizes a focus group with the participation of a number of government entities
SOCPA organized an online focus group through ZOOM as part of the initiative to align the education outcomes with the requirements of the labor market. A number of government agencies participated in the focus group with the aim of exploring their opinions on how to develop educational courses in the accounting program and how to meet the needs of the labor market, as well as other areas of development needed for accounting graduates.
The participating government agencies and bodies are: the Ministry of education, the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment, the Ministry of investment, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Commerce.
The workshop opened with a speech from H. E. Dr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Almeghames, CEO of SOCPA, who welcomed the attendees and thanked them for their active participation, noting SOCPA's efforts in holding a series of "focus groups" on aligning educational outcomes with labor market requirements, increasing the number of local accounting and auditing professionals, and SOCPA's role in enabling the various economic sectors to obtain the right accounting and auditing services.
For his part, Dr. Musab al Naeem, member of the education and Training Committee, gave a detailed explanation of the initiative. He explained that it depends first on the localization of the profession, and second on increasing the relevant research and studies on the subject, and finally it depends on preparing a strategy to match the requirements of the labor market in the kingdom with the outputs of education.
SOCPA aims by holding these meetings to support accounting education in the Kingdom and to study the labor market and its needs to keep pace with the speed of social, economic and technical developments and changes at the local and global level. SOCPA plans to do this through participating in the development of accounting courses and programs offered by universities in the kingdom.
Several topics were discussed by the focus group, most notably the localization plan for the accounting profession in the Kingdom and its relevance to professional certificates, as well as the best way to work with universities to develop curricula that meet the requirements of the labor market.
The organization of this event is part of SOCPA's efforts under the initiative to align education outcomes with labor market requirements, in cooperation with Prince Sultan University, which aims to support accounting education in the Kingdom and study the labor market and its needs.
