SOCPA continues to carry out workshops for the Alignment of Educational Outputs with Labor Market Requirements Initiative
The Saudi Organization for Chartered and Professional Accountants (SOCPA), in cooperation with Prince Sultan University (PSU) organized a workshop (focus group) to explore the views and benefit form the professional experience of local and international accounting firms and companies such as Deloitte, Ey , Pwc, Kpmg, kharashi & Co., Saleh al-thenayan, and Boodai & Al Omar CPA on the subject of aligning educational outputs with the labor market.
The executive director of membership and professional qualification at SOCPA, Dr. Musab al-Ja'id, pointed out that the workshop aims to discuss the content of accounting courses and programs offered by Saudi universities and that it comes within a series of workshops organized by SOCPA as part of the initiative to align educational outcomes with the requirements of the labor market in order to ultimately support accountancy education in the kingdom. Dr. Al-ja'id also added that SOCPA will examine, together with Saudi universities, the reality of the labor market and the needs of accounting graduates.
Dr. Musab al Naeem, a member of the Education and Training Committee and Head of the Accounting Department at King Faisal University, pointed out that the workshop discussed the capabilities of universities in promoting career opportunities for their graduates, and the skills that must be instilled in junior employees. Dr. Al Naeem also added that the meeting with specialized accounting firms adds a new dimension to the process of designing educational programs and that it will lead to achieve inclusiveness and provide the necessary skills required by accounting students
