SOCPA to Hold a Series of Workshops to Introduce the International Codes of Professional Behavior and Ethics

The Saudi Organization for Chartered and Professional Accountants held a workshop on the international codes of professional behavior and ethics, which will come into force in the middle of next year (2022 ). Participated in the workshop were Professor Ahmed Al Shaniqiti, a member of the Ethics and Conduct Committee, and team leader, Professor Khaled Bahjat, a member of the Committee, and Dr. Yasser Fallatah, advisor to the Committee.
The workshop's themes included the steps to convert to an international code of professional behavior and ethics, the most prominent contents of the codes, and the accreditation document, in addition to explaining the difference between the currently applied codes and international codes and the timeframe for implementing those codes.

It is noteworthy that the Board of Directors of SOCPA recently approved the international codes of professional behavior and ethics, in line with the regulatory environment in Saudi Arabia, which constitutes a qualitative leap in the direction of enhancing the quality of the practices of the accounting and auditing profession in Saudi Arabia, and its consistency with international practices, and came to complement the system of transformation into a set of international standards. Which included accounting and auditing standards, quality control, ethics and professional conduct, and through this SOCPA seeks to enhance the confidence of financial statements users and achieve international linkage in a way that contributes to achieving the Saudi Vision 2030 programs.

Holding this workshop comes in line with SOCPA's awareness of the role entrusted to it regarding the project of transformation to the international codes of professional behavior and ethics, and its keenness to share professional practices among those interested, which will help in the technical and professional preparation, before enforcing the application of these standards. This workshop was well attended by professionals who interacted with the theses of the speakers.
