SOCPA works continuously to strengthen its regulatory and supervisory role over the accounting and auditing profession and its related fields, and to protect the profession and its beneficiaries from unlawful practices. As part of that work, and in coordination with Madinah Region Police, SOCPA has detected a commercial establishment that advertised professional services without holding a statutory license. Legal action has been taken against the establishment, and it has been referred to the Public Prosecution.
SOCPA said that initial detection and investigation procedures showed the establishment had used its website to advertise professional services that fall under SOCPA's supervision, without holding the license required to provide them. Such practices are among the acts criminalized under Article 10 of the Accounting and Auditing Profession Law. That article covers misleading the public by any means into believing that a person has the right to practice the profession without a license, or while a license is revoked or suspended.
SOCPA confirmed that it will continue its supervisory work and take legal action against any practice that harms the integrity of the profession or misleads the public. It stressed that no professional service under its supervision may be provided without the required statutory licenses, and that license holders must comply with the relevant laws, regulations and decisions.
SOCPA called on beneficiaries to verify the licenses of professional service providers before dealing with them, and to report any practice suspected of breaching the regulations. This helps protect beneficiaries and strengthens the reliability and quality of professional services.
